Assuming that you will get paid to write and live nicely is quite ludicrous when you think about it. This profession just can't justify big paychecks. So I think the real writers are born out when they realize that money isn't the reason behind it. It's just like an addiction to share and to explore yourself. If you get paid for it, consider yourself lucky.
