A traditional mechanical timepiece is the most useless gadget you could have. And yet, you will love it.

I have talked about why it is of imperative importance that you, yes YOU dear reader with an internet dependance, should get yourself a watch in this day and age. But we have not yet spoken about the mind-boggling superiority behind a mechanical timepiece. A literally centuries old technology still survives to this day barely modified despite logically better alternatives to tell the time have arisen in the last decades. Why? Because they’re fucking awesome.

What is a mechanical watch?

A mechanical wristwatch in the purest of forms is very simple to define. It’s a timekeeping device that relies solely on gears and levers to function.

Exactly. No batteries inside. No chip/brain to help it maintain an accurate consistency. None of those fancy shenanigans in here, boys. Just some good old fashion mechanic workhorse beating at a consistent rate without anything resembling an electronic device regulating it.
