I finally found this film on a streaming service and saw it almost immediately. I really liked how understated and crude it is at times. My favorite scene is when one of Lord Darlington's guests makes a "point" against democracy by humiliating Stevens with nonsensical questions about global policy. Not only does it remark the insufferable qualities of posh pricks who think they know it all; it also conveys a lot of information regarding Lord Darlington's true feelings about certain things.
