I finally got to watch this on the cinema! This film is the antithesis of Babylon in terms of direction. While Chazelle forces you to focus on certain aspects of his film in a completely and evidently designed background, Todd Field pulls away and lets the audience choose where to direct their eyes. I absolutely LOVED how "hidden" the man is behind the camera. A film director which lets go of that horrendous impulse to impress other film people to instead provide an amazing and harshly critical movie about the stupid state of the world.
Although I found it way too long and rather confusing at times (alongside having a very soft audio at my local cinema, sadly), I can't seem to understand why I enjoyed it so much despite being as vague as it is. Todd Field is such a talented bloke. Obviously, he learned from the best.
