I had never noticed this. It might be one of the reasons why I ultimately don't play the game anymore. You may have a huge point here. The villagers do seem a little boring and predictable at times. I loved the fact that in the original you could develop real grudges with villagers and send them hate mail. HAHAHA. It is true that they could use with being less nice and a little more nuanced. But that probably is easier said than done. I am looking forward for the new title!
