I love Tom Cruise more than I love some of my family members. Yet, I truly disliked his character in this movie. I hated the arrogance people seemed to love and I wanted to punch him in the face more than once.

Yet, it astonishes me how many people find this film not only relevant but inspiring. A friend of mine was so moved by this film he genuinely considered being a fighter pilot. Meanwhile, I had never thought about it once after watching it. To each their own, no doubt.

I'm still quite excited to see the new one, though.
