8 reasons to purchase blu-rays in the age of streaming

Yes, I wholeheartedly agree that streaming technology is far from being mankind’s worst invention (just think of pineapple pizza, for instance). If you think about it, paying just a few bucks each month gets you plenty of benefits. Convenience, diversity, instant access, the Grand Tour on Amazon Prime. Yes, these are all privileges I deem beautiful and uncontroversial.

After all, without Netflix’s recent aspirations to be a production house of its own, we would probably not get to watch that lovely coming-of-age film because it would most certainly be shellacked at your local cinema if it had the shit luck of premiering alongside the next dumbass Marvel film.

Streaming provides unique benefits. But it is not enough for you to abandon the huge torture behind getting your ass off the couch, opening the blu-ray case and inserting it in the tray. In fact, I decided to provide you with 8 reasons why you should consider, as the contemporary philosopher and interpreter Olivia Newton-John would say, to “get physical”.

  1. The quality.

At the moment, Netflix mostly utilizes the H.264 video codec with (AVC) or Advanced Video Coding for its transmissions. You don’t need to know what any of this means (frankly, neither do I) but what you should know is…
