The astounding simplicity of Doom Eternal
Playing Doom Eternal turns your brain into wet porridge. Yet, it’s still pretty damn fun. SPOILER FREE.
If you love first person shooters, you are obligated to try out Doom Eternal.
Awarded back in 2020 with literally trillions of accolades regarding it as the best action game of the year, you’d rightly say:
Well, duh.
You’d be right. It seems like a fairly obvious choice to try out. After all, this game franchise along with Wolfenstein is credited for basically inventing the genre as we know it. If there is one title we as gamers should try out, definitely this seems to be at the top of the list.
So after being separated for more than 10 years from the franchise (and watching a fan animation of the Doom Slayer kicking demons’s asses in hell with Isabelle from Animal Crossing), I decided to give Doom Eternal a try.
After finishing the campaign, I have a simple and surprisingly hollow conclusion:
It’s shocking to me that I spent the best part of an hour trying to explain myself as to why I enjoyed this experience so much.
