Spoiler free! A brief shoot out to one of the finest independent horror films I’ve seen in a long time.

It’s not unusual to be disappointed by horror movies. In fact, I would argue it is the single most common film genre where disappointment tends to be the rule. Maybe the movie couldn’t possibly hold up to your insanely ridiculous standards. Maybe the visual effects where so terrible that it took you away from the experience. Or it could be that the actors are as believable as the Spaghetti Monster. Or perhaps what you’re watching simply doesn’t do it for you.

This is why the horror genre is one of the most widely criticized, especially now. Technology has reached a point where impressing your audience by visuals alone isn’t going to cut it anymore. If your scary movie sucks in the most essential elements; things such as awful special effects, mediocre acting or bad writing will ultimately destroy any possibility of your movie being enjoyed by a typical audience.

Preparing for the spooky times coming soon, I decided to do a prior investigation before jumping into another horror film that would spoil my evening; considering I am allergic to Patton Oswalt, woke culture and bad movies.

Despite asking around for a good recommendation on horror movies by cinephiles just as myself…
