Have you seen yourself committing that awful mistake of taking a glimpse of the current catalogue of available films? Whether it’s through your local cinema or from a streaming platform; it mostly ends the same way for me: an overwhelming desire to cry, get undressed and then run bare naked on the streets while screaming at the top of my lungs “CINEMA IS DEAD”.
Perhaps I’m overreacting or maybe it’s just too damn hot right now and I’m just looking for an excuse. However, I’m pretty sure you’ve thought this way at some point. If you love films at least once you must have said to yourself “man, these guys at Hollywood just have no clue about what to do anymore”. Frankly, I would love to tell you that your entitled, overtly analytical and spoiled judgement was wrong on this one but sadly you do seem to have a good point.
You don’t even need to go to the movies frequently anymore to realize that most “new” films that are talked about today are either homages from older, better movies; or some kind of shameless cash-grabbing sequels of a story that was never intended to be continued.
In fact, I’ve actually made a bet against myself where I promised that anytime I checked the current billboard if there weren’t no sequels or…
