Before we get started, a quick disclaimer. This list does NOT represent or encourage that ludicrous idea of “the best watch ever”. Instead, I propose 10 historical timepieces that made an impact so big in the industry that are simply impossible to ignore. Although my preferences may rely elsewhere at times, I present you with the 10 watches every watch-geek should know about.
Cartier Santos
Before the Santos came along, the idea of wrist watches worn by men was mostly seen as a ridiculous idea. Pocket watches were the typical go to for rich snobs wearing their ridiculous monocles. Meanwhile, the practicality and style of the wrist watch was mainly associated with the ladies. Funny enough, now the roles seem to have reversed and the Santos played a big part in it.
