What is the most violent scene you remember in fictional media?
I did the experiment and it led to a strange reflection.
Violence in media is by no means an estranged subject by any of us. I’m convinced to a perhaps arrogant level of certainty that all of you reading have witnessed a scene in a movie or a video game that was violent in nature. Like paying taxes or finding out stuff you didn’t want to know about the Kardashians; it’s unavoidable in this modern reality.
However, whenever the debate initiates about media and violence there is always a common scapegoat. The one they all blame. Say it with me: video games.
Now, I am not here to discuss whether video games are directly or indirectly responsible to a rise in violence in our society. The Youtube channel Game Theory has already done it much better than I ever could. Instead, I’m talking about the first scene that I ever thought was truly and incredibly violent. Here it is:
