Yes, I totally get that, in a way, the ending serves to highlight the absurdity. Personally, I just didn't think it was necessary and heard quite a couple of audience members calling that out as well when the movie ended. It was a risky decision for sure.
In terms of the state of cinema… let's just say I'm not as excited as I used to be. So getting me excited for the future is going to take some time and a lot more films like this one. I don't expect masterpieces. But I do expect things that don't make me want to rewatch something old instead. If you catch my drift.
