As much as I despise Rolex as a brand (you can read why here), none of us watch nerds can deny its influence in the industry.
What Rolex does is the sole parameter the whole industry uses to determine their own strategy. If Rolex decides for some reason to stop selling watches and distribute instead hot wings with habanero sauce, have not an ounce of doubt that Omega, Breitling, IWC, Panerai and the rest of watch brands will soon open their own Pollos Hermanos joints. That’s just what it is.
Which is why this news is HUGE. “Rolex Certified Pre-Owned Watch Programme” is threatening to change the industry permanently. But how does it work? Who will it affect? What does this even mean?
